Laurieston Tennis Club Coaching Programme

JUNIOR NIGHTS

Many thanks for supporting the new tennis coaching trial period with Tim and Mark. The numbers and feedback have been great. With this in mind, we have been making preparations to offer all juniors high-quality coaching in a 6-week block set-up from April onwards.

The first 6-week block will run from 17th April to 22nd May, and the cost will be £30 for one child and £45 for two children in the same family. If the weather prevents play, a refund or extra session will be added to compensate. If your child is ill and is unable to attend, Tim and Mark are unable to refund you the cost of the session.

Payments can be made in cash or by bank transfer. Bank details will be confirmed shortly.

The 5.30 to 6.30 red ball class has been less well attended and we think this may be because 5.30pm is too early for some parents. We have decided to change the times of the classes to optimise attendance. We think the early class is a very important class for youngsters developing their tennis.

The new schedule is as follows:

  • 6-7pm: 4-8 year olds/red ball (can be changed)

  • 7-8pm: 8-13 year olds/green, orange and beginner yellow ball

  • 8-9pm: older players /experienced younger players

We are very pleased to offer these new coaching sessions this season with Tim and Mark, who are both Level 3 LTA-accredited coaches. During the trial period, you’ll know that the Club subsidised part of the cost the sessions, with the intention of reviewing this after we knew how many juniors would come. Due to costs, we have reluctantly had to conclude that unfortunately, we are not in the financial position to be able to subsidise any of the coaching fees. With this in mind, we are not going to increase Club membership fees for this year 2023-2024 for Juniors, and we hope you agree that, compared to other children's activities, £30 for six hours of tennis coaching is good value. As a reminder, your membership fees cover court/clubhouse maintenance, equipment, insurance and LTA registration costs. It allows you to play tennis at any time for the whole year using our Clubspark app to book a court. We think our membership fees are great value and they are significantly less than other local clubs.

Tim and Mark also offer one-to-one coaching and group coaching for adults. If you are interested, please ask Edna for more details at lauriestontennis@gmail.com

ADULT COACHING

We are now in a position to offer coaching for adults either  individual or  in classes.  These will be run by either Tim (level 3 coach) or Mark (he has nearly completed level 3)

This is quality coaching with technical skill and game play development. They would be happy to  coach the  mens  teams on Thursday nights in the weeks before the leagues begin.

Craig will be in touch with the men about this.l

They could also do a ladies beginners /intermediate class on a Thursday night.

If you would be interested in coaching, it would be helpful if you could let us know.  We won't hold you to it, but it would give us an idea of demand.

Classes are obviously a lot cheaper than individual lessons which are  around  £25 a time.

Welcome to Laurieston Tennis Club
